The American healthcare system is a Byzantine combination of government and private elements. The morality of each element is debated vigorously, and in part those debates are drive by prior ethical commitments. In this talk, Stephen Hicks will discuss how the core debate over individual versus collective responsibility affects the sub-debates over the provision and regulation of primary care, hospital care, pharmaceuticals, and insurance.
